The Meteorological Department has said that heavy rains are likely to occur in different parts of the country in the next 72 hours. At the same time, incessant rainfall has triggered the risk of landslides in various districts of Chattogram.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued an update in this regard on Wednesday (June 18).

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," said the bulletin.

The seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist local warning signal number 3.

Due to very heavy rains, there is a risk of landslides in some parts of the hilly areas of Chattogram, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, and Cox's Bazar districts. Besides, due to the heavy rainfall, temporary waterlogging may occur in some parts of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna metropolitan cities.
