The government is set to pass the national budget of Tk 7,90,000 crore for the upcoming 2025-26 fiscal year on Sunday (June 22).
Given the absence of the national parliament, the Advisory Council is expected to approve the proposed budget in a meeting in the morning.
“The Advisory Council meeting will begin this morning at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon of Dhaka with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair. Following its approval, the budget will be passed with the president’s endorsement and a gazette notification issued on the same day,” according to a source concerned.
The new fiscal year will come into effect from July 1.
