Former MP Sabina Akter Tuhin arrested

Former lawmaker for Dhaka-14 constituency Sabina Akter Tuhin was arrested from Dhaka's Nawabganj upazila on Monday morning (June 23).

Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan, joint commissioner (north) of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said the MP was arrested from her village home in Sholla Union of Nawabganj Upazila on Sunday midnight. However, no information was immediately available on the exact reason for the arrest.

Police said Tuhin is accused in multiple cases, including one involving a murder during last year's July uprising.

Sabina Akhter Tuhin was elected as a member of the National Parliament from reserved women's seat-35 on March 19, 2014.
