Former CEC Kazi Habibul Awal arrested

Detective Branch of Police (DB) arrested the former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal on Wednesday (June 25).

Talebur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner of DB's Media and Public Relations Division, said that Kazi Habibul Awal was arrested from Moghbazar in Dhaka.

However, it was not immediately known in which case he was arrested.

Kazi Habibul Awal was the 13th Chief Election Commissioner of the country. His commission was formed on February 26, 2022, and he served until September 5, 2024.
