Complete NBR shutdown from June 28

The protesting staff and officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have announced a complete shutdown from June 28 if the NBR chairman is not removed.

Leaders of NBR Reform Oikya Parishad announced this at a press conference on Thursday.  

NBR Reform Oikya Parishad President Hasan Muhammad Tareq Rikabdar and General Secretary Sehela Siddika were also present.

They will go into a complete shutdown from June 28 if the NBR chairman is not removed by June 27, they said.

A large contingent of law enforcement personnel, including members of the army, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Border Guard Bangladesh, were deployed at the site, they alleged.

Protesters also alleged that no one was allowed to enter or exit the premises during the demonstration, with several employees sitting at the building's main gates.

The protesting staff and officials have sought Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus’s intervention to put an end to the prevailing stalemate at the central tax administration.
