Ex-CEC Nurul Huda placed on more 4-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on a four-day remand more in a sedition case filed with the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order on Friday.

Earlier, investigation officer and sub-inspector Shamsuzzoha Sarkar pleaded for a 10-day remand. His lawyer also sought a bail plea.

On the night of 22 June, law enforcers arrested Nurul Huda from his residence in the capital’s Uttara area.

The case was filed with the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, alleging irregularities and vote rigging in the national elections of 2014, 2018, and 2024.

Nurul Huda was the chief election commissioner during the 11th parliamentary election held on 30 December 2018.
