Yunus, Rubio for strengthening economic relations

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a telephone conversation with Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at 7.30pm on Monday.

The 15-minute discussion was warm, cordial, and constructive, reflecting excellent bilateral engagement between the two nations, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said. 

During the talks, both sides discussed several bilateral issues, including the scope of further expanding cooperation between the two countries, said Alam.

They also underscored the need for strengthening mutual relations during their conversation, Alam said, expressing his optimism that it will help open a new horizon of cooperation in future.

Meanwhile, spokesperson at the US Department Tammy Bruce after the telephone conversation, said the US Secretary of State and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh interim government also affirmed their shared commitment to ‘enhancing security and stability’ throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

“The Secretary and Chief Adviser affirmed their shared commitment to deepening economic ties between the United States and Bangladesh and to enhancing security and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region,” said the spokesperson.
