‘Opportunity come through immense hardship. We must make the most of it’

Professor Ali Riaz, vice-chairperson of National Consensus Commission said, "This kind of dialogue hasn't happened in the last 53 years. The opportunity has come through immense hardship, resistance, and struggle. We must make the most of it."

He said this while addressing a dialogue at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Thursday (July 3).

Ali Riaz said political parties are now holding informal discussions among themselves, which is inspiring to us. Not all decisions will be made here, but constructive discussions will begin here.

He also said that the commission has identified nearly 20 issues that need to be addressed and resolved. 

"These issues, in our view, are crucial, and some of them should even be considered fundamental," he added.
