‘Stern action if army personnel found involved in enforced disappearances’

Stern action will be taken if any army personnel found to be involved in the enforced disappearance cases, the Army Headquarters said.

Military Operations Directorate's (Staff Colonel) Colonel Md Shafiqul Islam said this while addressing a press briefing at Dhaka cantonment on Thursday afternoon (July 3).

At the press conference, he answered the questions of reporters on various recent issues, including the law-and-order situation.

"Several army members, who were on deputation to various organisations, have been accused of involved in disappearance cases. The matter is under investigation," said Md Shafiqul Islam.

“When army personnel work under deputation, we do not have direct control over them. However, investigations are ongoing. If anyone is found involved in enforced disappearances, the army will take action,” he said.
