Two more RMG factories get LEED certification

Two more ready-made garment (RMG) factories have received the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) sources confirmed the news on Wednesday (July 9).

The two factories are - Evitex Apparels Limited of Shirir Chala Bagarbazar, Gazipur and Aswad Composite Mills Limited, Unit-2 in Ashulia Shimulia Kabirpur.

According to BGMEA, more than half of the world's 100 most environmentally friendly factories are situated in Bangladesh.

The country now boasts 250 LEED-certified factories, including 105 platinum-rated, 131 gold-rated, 10 silver-rated, and four certified factories.
