18 judges sent to forced retirement on corruption charges 

A total of 18 judges have been sent to forced retirement on the corruption charges. 

Following the orders from the President, the Law Ministry issued a notification on Thursday (July 10) night in this regard.

The notification said the following members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service have been retired from the service in the public interest in consultation with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh as they have completed 25 years of service.

The notification also said that the retirements were enacted under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018, in the public interest. 

The affected judges are Bikash Kumar Saha, Sheikh Mofizur Rahman, Mahbubar Rahman Sarkar, Sheikh Golam Mahbub, Md Mojibur Rahman, Md Ehsanul Haque, Md Jewel Rana, Md Monir Kamal, Shahidul Islam, Al Mahmud Faizul Kabir, Md Nazimuddaula, AKM Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan, Abu Zafar Md. Kamruzzaman, Md Rustam Ali, Md Nurul Islam, AKM Enamul Karim and Mohammad Hossain. 

The retirements take effect immediately, as per the notification, marking a significant move to address alleged misconduct within the judiciary.
