5 burnt in explosion from `gas leak` in Dhaka

Five members of a family sustained serious burn injuries in an explosion apparently from gas leak at a building in the capital’s Sutrapur area on early Friday (July 11).

The injured were – Ripon, 35, suffered 60 per cent burns, Chadni, 28, who received 45 per cent burns, and Tamim, 22, Rokon, 14, and Ayesha, 1, suffered 42, 60, and 63 percent burns.

The explosion took place at about 2:00am on the ground floor flat of a five-storey building in Kagjitola of the area, leaving them injured.

Later, all the burn injured were sent to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
