The newly-formed party Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP)’s road march reached Bagerhat town on Saturday (July 12) evening, marking the celebration of the one-year anniversary of the July mass uprising.
Party’s convener Nahid Islam made the allegation at a rally saying, “The police administration is still afraid of extortionists.”
Nahid, citing the history of the mass uprising against Sheikh Hasina’s government, said, “We speak against the old settlement, we speak against the old political culture. Those who are perpetuating the old settlement, the culture of extortion, and mafia politics, you will have to stand against them.”
“We protested against extortionists and corrupt people. However, that change has not come in the past one year. The extortionists still remain”
“We have taken to the streets again to resist them” he added.
