Armed forces` special magistracy powers extended

The government has extended the executive magistracy powers granted to commissioned officers of the Armed Forces by another two months.
The public administration ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (July 13).
The extension will take effect on July 14.
According to the notification, commissioned officers holding the rank of captain and above in the Bangladesh Armed Forces have been granted special executive magistrate powers across the country.
Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government last year, army officers were granted magistracy powers for 60 days. It was subsequently extended on January 12, March 13, and May 13 this year.
