The government has taken an initiative to convert the Ganabhaban, the residence of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, into the ‘July Uprising Memorial Museum’.

This program will be completed in two phases. It will cost 111 crore 19 lakh 81 thousand taka.

The decision to convert Ganabhaban into the 'July Uprising Memorial Museum' will be implemented by the Public Works Department.

The Bangladesh National Museum under the initiative of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will work with the aim of presenting various memorials of the student-public uprising that took place in July-August 2024 and various incidents of oppression by the previous government.

The advisory council took the decision at a meeting on December 24.

The National Museum Authority under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs requested the Public Works Department on May 21, 2025, to implement the renovation and miscellaneous works related to the establishment of the 'July Uprising Memorial Museum'.

The consulting architects engaged by the Bangladesh National Museum Authority sent a master plan of the July Uprising Memorial Museum on June 27.

According to this master plan, at the request of the Bangladesh National Museum Authority, the Public Works Department will complete the civil part of the project at a cost of 70,36,95,000 taka.
