48,000 expatriates seek voter registration

Around 48,080 Bangladeshi expatriates from nine countries have applied for voter registration through Bangladeshi missions. Of them, 17,367 expatriates have become voters.

ASM Humayun Kabir, director general of the National Identity Registration Division of the Election Commission (EC) revealed the information in a press conference on Tuesday (July 15).

He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has granted permission to begin voter registration activities in five additional countries — Oman, South Africa, Jordan, the United States, and the Maldives.

We have also received approval to carry out voter ID work in all embassies, he added.
