BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged leaders and activists of the party not to fall into any trap.
The BNP secretary general made the call at a discussion organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in memory of the students killed in the July mass uprising at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University on Thursday.
Stating that the national election will be held in February, the BNP secretary general warned the leaders and activists, saying, ill efforts are underway to trap BNP.
“The perpetrators are trying to make BNP jump in their trap. But that will not happen. The conspirators have started making trouble since the election assurance was made in the London meeting,” he said.
He said all the great achievements of the country have been achieved by BNP.
“The fascists are gone but conspiracy does not stop. Conspiracy is going on so that democracy does not return. They are making obscene and inaudible words against Tarique Rahman, why, only out of fear. Because Tarique Rahman is a national leader, that is why there is a conspiracy against him,” he said.
He said the victory of July belongs to the general people of the country.
“Everyone came out in the anti-dictatorship movement that day. Everyone's goal was to build a democratic Bangladesh,” he said.
Fakhrul said the mass uprising of July 2024 has opened the door to new possibilities after 1971 and 1990.
“But whose credit is the victory of July? Many are claiming it, but this credit belongs to the people of the country,” he said.
At this time, the BNP secretary general said the opportunity which came through the mass uprising to create a new Bangladesh should not be wasted by any means.
The BNP secretary general said a total of 142 members of JCD embraced martyrdom in the July movement, their names were not gazetted.
“The injured are also complaining about not getting any cooperation,” he said, urging the government to be more sincere in this regard.
