Students enter Secretariat, police disperse them

Students from various colleges in Dhaka broke through the gates of the Secretariat demanding the resignation of Education Advisor C. R. Abrar.

A chase and counter chase took place between police and students. At one stage, the law enforcement forces dispersed them. At this time, the sound of sound grenades was heard. Tear gas shells were also fired.

The incident took place at around 4:10 pm on Tuesday (July 22).

When the angry students entered the Secretariat and started vandalizing cars, the police chased them and charged them with batons. They dispersed the students.

However, students are still seen around the Secretariat. Earlier, the angry students were staying outside the gates for some time.

They have taken to the streets demanding the resignation of the education adviser for the delay in announcing the postponement of Tuesday's HSC exams and demanding the release of accurate information about the students who died in the plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.

Although the education adviser did not resign, the government has removed the education secretary. However, the students remained steadfast and took a position inside the secretariat demanding the adviser's resignation; students chanted slogans.
