Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Jan 11: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with top brasses of the law enforcing agencies today (Saturday) to finalise security measures during the re-polling slated for January 16 in 392 polling stations of the eight constituencies.

The meeting will be held at 11:00am at the National Economic Council (NEC) conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city  where representative of the Armed Forces Division will also be present, according to EC secretariat sources.

The voting in the 392 polling stations of the eight constituencies was suspended due to widespread violence during the January 5 parliamentary polls.

The eight constituencies are Dinajpur-4, Kurigram-4, Gaibandha-1, 3 and 4, Bogra-7, Jessore-5 and Laxmipur-1.

Election Commissioner Brig Gen (Retd) Zabed Ali said the commission will finalise the security measures for the re-voting areas in the meeting.

Meanwhile, members of the Army will remain deployed in the eight constituencies till January 17 as a striking force along with the law enforcers.

Earlier, on December 26, the army personnel were deployed across the country for 15 days till January 9 to help conduct the 10th parliamentary polls in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

Of the 392 polling centres where voting was suspended, 57 are in Dinajpur-4, two in Kurigram-4, 54 in Gaibandha-1, 80 in Gaibandha-3, 72 in Gaibandha-4, 46 in Bogra-7, 60 in Jessore-5, and 21 in Laxmipur-1. risiungbd/BHM
