Veteran journalist ABM Musa

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Apr 9: Veteran journalist ABM Musa died at Labaid Specialized Hospital in the capital on Wednesday noon.

He had been put on life support at the private hospital from Monday midnight.


He was admitted to the hospital on March 20 and was taken intensive care unit (ICU) several times, family sources said.

 
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief of the Opposition Raushan Ershad and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed deep shock at the death of ABM Musa.

 

ABM Musa was born in 1931 in a respective Muslim family at Dharmapur village under Chhagalnaiya upazila in Feni district.

In his profession life, ABM Musa was the news editor of the Daily Bangladesh Observer, Director General of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).


ABM Musa started his journalism career with the Daily Insaf in 1950. After one year, he joined The Pakistan Observer and worked with the English daily till 1971.


After the Independence, he worked as General Manager of BTV and Editor of Morning News.


During the War of Liberation he collected news for BBC, Sunday Times and some other renowned media from the war fields.
