Latif Khan new CO of N`ganj RAB

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, May 9: Lt. Col. Anwar Latif Khan has been appointed as Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) -11.

RAB headquarters issued a notice in this regard on Friday morning.

Prior to this appointment, he was the CO of RAB-5.

Lt Col Latif Khan has been replaced Lt Col Tareq Sayeed Mohammad as he was dismissed along with two other officers for their alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of seven people including Narayanganj City panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.

Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, along with five others, were abducted from the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road on the afternoon of April 27 . Later on April 30 , their floating bodies were recovered from the River Shitalakshya.

Nazrul’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam has complained that the said RAB officers were paid Tk six crores to pick up and kill the seven persons.
