Staff Correspondent: A court in Dhaka on Wednesday placed The Daily Inqilab`s news editor Robiullah Robi on a five-day remand following a case in ICT Act filed by a police officer.
Metropolitan Magistrate SM Ashikur Rahman gave the order after a hearing in this regard on the day.
Police arrested The Daily Inqilab`s news editor on Tuesday midnight from its office.
Police members had raided the newspaper`s office at RK Mission Road around midnight and arrested him. Police also searched for several other journalists of the daily.
Wari Police Station sources said Inqilab News Editor Robiullah Robi was arrested in a case filed by acting Additional IG Praloy Kumar Joardar regarding a news item published in the daily on August 18. He filed the case on Tuesday under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
In his case Praloy Kumar alleged that the news item hurts religious sentiments, attempts to create disorder in the police administration and violation of the ICT Act.
The case also accused The Daily Inqilab`s editor, publisher, news editor, chief reporter, city editor and the correspondent.
