5 RAB men remanded for 8 days over N’ganj 7-murder

The murdered seven men of Narayanganj

Narayanganj Correspondent: A Narayanganj court on Wednesday granted eight-day remand for five members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) over the sensational Narayanganj seven murder case.

With the five, the investigation officer of the case, so for, found the involvement of 22 members of the elite force in the much talked incident.

The remanded RAB members are Habilder Emdadul Haque, ROG1 Arif Hossain, Lance Naik Hira Miah, Lance Naik Bilal Hossain and Sainik R Toiab. They are all members of RAB-11.

Informing that the RAB members were detained on Tuesday night, Investigation Officer of the case Mamunoor Rashid produced them to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandi Rupom on Wednesday noon and sought 10 days remand for the detainees.

After conducting hearing, the court granted 8-day remand for them.

On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of the city.
 
Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge`s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
 
Three days later, six bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya. The other body was recovered from the river the following day.

Nazrul`s father-in-law Shahidul Islam claimed that Nur Hossain, a councillor in Narayanganj City, and some others paid elite force Rapid Action Battalion Tk. 6 crore to get Nazrul killed.
