Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has granted two days remand for Yousuf Majumdar in connection with the murder of High Court Mazar Mosque ‘Khatib’ and Islamic programme presenter Moulana Sheikh Nurul Islam Faruqi.
Metropolitan Magistrate Waez Kuruni Khan Chowdhury passed the remand order after police placed Yousuf Majumdar on his court seeking a 5-day remand for him.
Yousuf Majumdar was held from Comilla on Sunday.
Moulana Sheikh Nurul Islam Faruqi was slaughtered at his residence in East Rajabazar in the capital on August 27.
About 60, Faruqi was the international affairs secretary of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, and a presidium member of Bangladesh Islami Front. He owned a hajj agency, Faruqi Tours and Travels Private Ltd, and presented Islamic programmes on two private television channels.
