AL MP Bodi to stay in jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court rejected the bail plea of ruling Awami League’s Cox`s Bazar-4 lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Johirul Hoque passed the order after the bail petition hearing on Thursday afternoon.
 
Bodi`s lawyer Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon had filed the bail petition on October 13 after Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Maruf Hossen ordered to send him to jail on the previous day.

ACC Deputy Director Abdus Subhan filed the case with the Ramna Police Station in Dhaka on August 21.

 The property value of Bodi rose to Tk 2.88 crore from Tk 47.78 lakh in the last five years, according to his wealth statements submitted to the EC before the 2008 and the January 5 elections.

Five years back his yearly income was only Tk 2 lakh, which increased to Tk 15 crore last year.
