`National Revolution and Solidarity Day` observed

Staff Correspondent: BNP has observed the `National Revolution and Solidarity Day` today (November 7), marking the civil-military `uprising` in 1975.

 

Other political parties and different socio-cultural organisations have also observed the day from different historical perspectives.

 

On this day in 1975, amid political turmoil soldiers and civilians jointly freed the then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the way for Zia to come to power.

 

BNP and its associate bodies have chalked out a 10-day program to observe the day in a befitting manner. As part of the programs, the party will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally as the chief guest.

 

Besides, BNP hoisted party flags at its central office and chairperson`s Gulshan office in the city at 6:00am. BNP leaders and activists placed wreaths at the grave of late president Ziaur Rahman at 10:00am.
