`Tabith Awal`s candidature valid`

Staff Correspondent: Authorities concerned on Tuesday night announced that the candidature of Tabith Mohammed Awal, a Dhaka North City Corporation mayor aspirant, was valid.

Election Commissioner (EC) Zillar Rahman came up with the announcement, at around 8.30pm.

The announcement came as a bank in the country has sought to cancel his candidature for not paying the defaulted loans.

Earlier, Dhaka North City Corporation mayor aspirant Tabith Mohammed Awal, however, repaid his loan after the deadline was over.

Law bars anyone who has defaulted on repaying loans from contesting in the elections.

The election is scheduled to hold on April 28.
