Dr Wazed`s death anniversary today

Staff Correspondent: The sixth death anniversary of renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah is being observed today (Saturday).

On the occasion of his death anniversary, President M Abdul Hamid paid rich tributes to the memory of internationally reputed nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah.

In a message on the eve of the day, Abdul Hamid recalled that Dr Wazed had made notable contributions to the field of atomic research during his lifetime.

On February 16, 1942 Dr Wazed Miah was born in the respected Miah family at Fatehpur village in Peerganj of Rangpur and as a talented scientist, he significantly contributed to the country`s atomic research, he added.

In Rangpur, different organisations are observe the sixth death anniversary of renowned nuclear scientist.

Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS), Dr Wazed Foundation, Begum Rokeya University, Awami League (AL) and its front organisations and family of Dr Wazed have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the sixth death anniversary befittingly.

The programmes include offering Fateha and placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed at village Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila at 9am followed by offering Fateha and `Ziayarat` there.

After the Johr prayers, milad mahfil and special munajats will be arranged at Keramotia Mosque, Court Jam-E-Mosque and different other mosques in Rangpur city.
