Staff Correspondent: Noted businessman and DATCO Group Chairman Moosa Bin Shamsher, popularly known as Prince Moosa, submitted his wealth statement to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
A representative of Prince Moosa handed over the statement to ACC secretary at its headquarters in city on Sunday noon.
ACC sources confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.
Earlier on May 19, ACC sent a notice to Moosa’s manpower export office ‘DATCO’ asking him to submit the statement of his moveable and immoveable properties.
After four days of sending the notice, he appealed for seven days more for submitting the statement to ACC on May 24. ACC approved the plea and gave Moosa seven days more for submitting the statement which ended today (June 7).
Earlier, during an ACC quiz on ‘seven billion dollars’, the much-talked-about business tycoon admitted his ownership of another five billion dollars that has been kept in his personal account in a Swiss bank.
At that time, Moosa told ACC that there is around 12 billion USD, equivalent to over Bangladeshi Tk 93,000-crore, instead of seven billion dollars in his personal account with Swiss bank.
Moosa also informed ACC that he earned the whole sum of money through legal ways and the money was not sent from Bangladesh.
ACC deputy director Mir M Zainul Abedin Shibli was trying to unearth information about the amount of Moosa’s wealth.
Meanwhile, Moosa admitted that he has 1,200-bigha land in Savar, outskirts of capital Dhaka.
According to sources, a report was published in Business Asia on Moosa bin Shamsher in June 2014. It said he has $7 billion in a Swiss Bank.
Moosa was born in Faridpur district on Oct 15, 1950. He started his business career as a manpower exporter but international media usually portray him as an arms dealer.
He attracted huge media attention after offering the Labour Party and Tony Blair 5 million pounds as campaign donation during UK’s 1997 general elections.
