Mohsin Ali`s funeral after Asar

Staff Correspondent: The body of Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali has been kept at the minister`s official residence at 34, Minto Road in Dhaka.

A regular flight of Singapore Airlines carrying Mohsin Ali`s body reached at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:40pm on Tuesday.

 

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Foreign Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister Dr Gowher Rizvi, Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta, Jatiya Sangshad Chief Whip ASM Feroz and family members of the minister received the body at the airport.

 

A namaz-e-janaza will be held on Wednesday morning at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban from where the body will be taken to his village home in Moulvibazar.

The minister`s body will be taken to Moulvibazar carrying on a helicopter around 12:00pm. Later, the body will be kept at Moulvibazar High School ground from 2:00pm to 4:00pm for paying tribute.  

His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Moulvibazar High School ground after Asar prayer and will be buried at the Moulvibazar graveyard beside the shrine of Shah Mostafa (RA).

Mohsin Ali died around 11:00am (local time) at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Monday where he was undergoing treatment with critical ailment.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker from Moulvibazar-3 constituency was 67 years old and suffering from pneumonia.

The minister rushed to the BIRDEM hospital in Dhaka on September 3 with serious sickness. As his condition was deteriorating, he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital the next evening.

Later, he was taken on the life support as his physical condition was gradually deteriorating. Finally, he was flown to Singapore`s Mount Elizabeth Hospital on September 5 for better treatment.

The 67-year-old has diabetic and had undergone a bypass surgery in the past.
