Tonu murder case handed over to DB

Staff Correspondent: Sensational murder case of college student after rape in Comilla was handed over to the district Detective Branch (DB) Police.

Monjur Alam, officer-in-charge of Comilla district unit Detective Branch (DB) today said that the case was handed over to DB police yesterday night.

Comilla district police super Shah Abid Hossain said that investigation is underway giving highest priority.

The body of 19-year old Tonu, with her head smashed, was found in a bush near a culvert at the cantonment’s Alipur area on Mar 20 night.

After recovering the body, police, based on the findings at the crime scene, had said that the girl was first raped and then murdered.

After her autopsy at Comilla Medical College Hospital on Monday, Tonu was buried at her village home at Muradnagar Upazila’s Mirzapur.

Tonu was in her second year studying history at Comilla Victoria College. She was also into theatre and lived with her family at Alipur.
