Tonu murder: CID to hand over DNA report today

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is expected to hand over the DNA report of the slain Comilla Victoria College and a member of Comilla Victoria College Theatre Sohagi Jahan Tonu to Medical Board on Tuesday.

 

A source of CID-Comilla confirmed the news saying the DNA report from Forensic Department of Dhaka-CID reached Comilla office on Monday night.

 

Sources said CID took initiatives to hand over Tonu`s DNA report to Medical Board after Court`s order. The report is expected to hand over to the chief of autopsy Medical Board.

 

"The investigation officer Sub-Inspector Gazi M Ibrahim will deliver the report to the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday," the sources said.

 

Earlier on Sunday, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Joynab Begum ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to provide DNA report of Sohagi Jahan Tonu`s body to the Second Autopsy Medical Board.

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a second-year student of history department of Comilla Victoria College and a member of Comilla Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.

Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house.

She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where physicians declared her dead.
