10 villages flooded in Feni

Feni Correspondent: At least 10 villages in the district’s Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas have been flooded as the waters entered the villages following collapse of the dams of the Muhuri and Kohua rivers on Sunday evening.


Waters in the Muhuri River is flowing above the danger levels due to inclement weather and heavy downpours for last two days.


During visit, it was seen that 400-feet area of the Muhuri river dam has washed away by the flood waters.

 

Md. Kohinur Alam, executive enginner for Feni, Water Development Board (WDB), said that water from the Muhuri River entered the six villages following collapse of the flood control dykes.

 

The villages which were flooded include Dhakkhin Shaldhor, Shaldhor, Malipathor and Rajoshpur.


Later, water from the Muhuri River and Kohua River entered the several villages of Fulgazi upazila following collapse of the flood control dykes.

The Fulgazi market was also flooded as a result goods worth Tk 15 lakh has been damaged.


Many houses and trees in those villages were damaged and uprooted due to flood waters.


Parshuram UNO Monira Haq said water-logging has been created in several villages and necessary steps are being taken after preparing a list of affected people.
