India hands over Ragib Ali to Bangladesh

Staff Correspondent: The Indian authorities have handed over industrialist Ragib Ali to Bangladesh authorities.

 

Indian Immigration Police handed over Ragib Ali to Bangladesh authorities around 3.00pm through Shutarkandi border of Sylhet’s Beanibazar.

Beanibazar OC Chondon Kumar Chakrabarty confirmed the news.

Earlier, industrialist Ragib Ali, who fled to India after issuance of an arrest warrant in a land grabbing case, was arrested in India on Thursday.

On August 10, a court in Sylhet issued an arrest warrant against Ragib Ali in a case of grabbing Hindu land by forging documents.

Later, on August 11, he went Assam through the Karimganj check post with his son, daughter, son-in-law and two others.

Ragib is the vice-chairman of South East Bank. He is also the former trustee board chairman of North-South University, and Leading University.

The businessman is the founder of Ragib-Rabeya Medical College in Jalalabad in Sylhet. He is involved with many organisations including a local newspaper ‘Dainik Sylheter Dak’.
