Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Amar Ekushey Granthamela’
Staff Correspondent: The much-awaited book fair ‘Amar Ekushey Granthamela’ today has begun on the Bangla Academy premises and its adjacent area Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital like previous year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the book fair, the biggest get-together of readers, writers and publishers, at around 4:30pm and visited many book stalls.
The month-long fair will remain open for 30 more minutes daily than the previous years. It will remain open for all from 3:00pm to 8:30pm on workdays, 11:00am to 8:30pm on holidays, and 8:00am to 8:30pm on February 21.
Earlier, the prime minister handed over prizes among seven winners of 'Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar 2016', one of the prestigious literary awards in the country.
Adequate security measures have been ensured for the fair. Members of Police, RAB, Ansar, and BGB will be deployed for ensuring the security for the fair.
