SSC, equivalent exams begin

Staff Correspondent: The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations of 2017 under ten education boards across the country began today (Thursday).
The examinations started at 3,236 centres all over the country at 10:00am.
This year, 1,786,613 students -- 910,501 boys and 876,112 girls, are taking part in the examinations.
Of them, 1,425,900 students sat for the SSC examination under eight general education boards. Some 256,501 students appeared in the Dakhil examinations while 104,212 students participated in the SSC vocational examinations.
The education ministry sources said a total of 93 new exam centres have been set up as 135,090 examinees have increased this year.
A total of 446 students from eight overseas centres are also appearing in the SSC examinations this year.
This year, the SSC exams are being held under creative question papers except Bangla 2nd paper and English 1st and 2nd papers.
A total of 1,651,523 students from 28,119 educational institutions appeared in the SSC and equivalent examinations in 2016. Of them, 842,933 students were male and 808,590 female.
