Ragib Ali, son get 14-year jail term

Staff Correspondent: A court in Sylhet on Thursday handed down a total of 14 year of imprisonment to industrialist Ragib Ali and his son Abdul Hye in case filed over grabbing endowment property of Tarapur Tea Estate.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman Hiru passed the order in presence of the accused around 3:00pm.

The court also fined them Tk 40,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.

Sylhel court public prosecutor Mijbah Uddin Siraj confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

Earlier, on 14 December the court finished recording witnesses’ testimonies on following counsels cross-examining them.

On 4 December, a Sylhet court framed charges against Ragib Ali in the cases.

Ragib Ali was sent to jail on November 24 last year after he was arrested by Indian immigration police.
