Padma bridge graft-allegation makers should apologise: Joy

Sajeeb Wazed Joy

Desk Report: Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that those who raised the corruption allegation denting reputation of revered people should now apologise to the Prime Minister and her government.

Information and Communication Technology Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the reaction in a post on his verified Facebook page after a Canadian court dismissed an international bribery case linked to the project yesterday at the prosecution's request.

He alleged that Hillary Clinton had instructed The World Bank to pull out the funding from the project due to persistent requests of Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, thereby hindering the largest infrastructure project in Bangladesh.

“Yunus deliberately tried to hurt Bangladesh using a foreign power,” he stated.

His outrage extended beyond the parties he holds guilty, and he spoke out against those who stood against the prime minister and the government, saying: “Those people who took sides against Bangladesh are unpatriotic. Indeed they owe Bangladesh an apology.”

“It is also shameful that a section of our so called civil society immediately took sides against our country in favor of the World Bank,” he wrote.
