Road crash injures reporter Mamunur Rashid in city

Staff Correspondent: Staff correspondent of The Daily Observer Mamunur Rashid was injured in a road crash in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

Sources said the accident took place when a black colour private car hit Mamun's motorbike in the capital's Karwan Bazar area around 3:30pm. When Mamun reached underpass near Karwan Bazar, the private car hit his bike, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Mamun was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with an unconscious condition.

According to DMCH source, Mamun is undergoing treatment at the operation theatre of casualty unit. He is still senseless.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tejgaon Police Station Md Mazharul Islam said the motorbike has been taken to the police station.

Awami League lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari from Feni- 2 constituency filed a Tk 10 crore defamation case against Editor of The Daily Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Staff Correspondent Mamunur Rashid in Feni for publishing a report on January 23.
