Cabinet approves BAEC Act-2017

Secretariat Correspondent: The Cabinet has approved the draft of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Act (BAEC)-2017.
The approval was given at the regular meeting of the Cabinet held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters after the meeting at the secretariat.
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Order, 1973 has been updated by translating it into Bangla, Shafiul Alam said.
The cabinet secretary said a commission comprising of a chairman and four members will be formed. The chairman must have long experience in science and technology. The chairman and members of the commission will be appointed by the government with condition. The chairman will act as the chief executive.
The work of the commission is to ensure peaceful use of atomic energy in field of food, agriculture, medicine, health and environment.
Besides, the work of the commission will also include many issues related to health and security of the employees.
