Robber killed in city 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent: An alleged robber was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at the capital's Tantibazar area early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sagor, 30.

Akhteruzzaman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said Sagor was committing robbery in the area for a long time. On tipped off, police conducted a drive in the area to nab him. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, he fired at them. Police also retaliated at him for self defence, leaving him dead.

The body was sent to Salimullah Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, he added.

"Sagor was a police listed wanted criminal. He was accused in several cases," he said.
