6 Islami Chhatri Sangstha activists sent to jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has sent six activists of Islami Chhatri Sangstha, female student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, who were arrested for allegedly holding a secret meeting at a house in Kadamtali area of Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yeasmin passed the order after rejecting a bail petition filed by Abdur Razzak, lawyer for the accused.
The accused who are now in jail are—Khadijatul Kobra Zakia, Nasrin Aktar, Nushrat Sharmin, Masuma Aktar, Rowshan Jahan and Fatematuj Johra.
Abdur Razzak told the court that his clients did not hold any meeting and they are innocent.
The accused confessed to holding the secret meeting during the interrogation, the Kadamtali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Azharul Islam, told the court.
The court today ordered police to send the accused to jail after hearing from the both sides.
On February 27, they were put on a two-day remand appealed by Md Azharul Islam, also the investigating officer of the case.
Earlier on February 26, police arrested the accused for allegedly holding a secret meeting at a house in Kadamtali area of Dhaka.
