Arms maker killed in Cox's Bazar 'gunfight'

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: A wanted arms maker was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Kerontali hill area of the district's Moheshkhali upazila on Friday morning.
Law enforcers also recovered 13 locally made firearms and 30 rounds of bullet from the spot.
The deceased was identified as Khuillya Mia, 40, a top listed arms manufacturer. He was accused in at least 12 cases filed with different police stations including Maheshkhali.
Prodeep Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshkhali Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said,"Acting on a top-off that a gang of miscreants including Khuillya Mia was making arms at Kerontali hill in Moheshkhali, a police team conducted a raid there in the morning. Sensing the presence of law enforcers miscreants fired at them. In retaliation, police also fired at them that triggered 'gun battle' of three hours. Later, cops recovered the body of Khuillya Mia. However, his other cohorts managed to flee the scene."
