2 killed over theft incident in Sylhet

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet. A man has been killed in a clash with cops over a theft incident that left another man dead in the district.

The incident took place at Anwarpur village under the district’s Companyganj upazila early Saturday.

According to sources, a thief entered the house of Jilu Mia at Anwarpur village early Saturday.  A thief hit the Jilu Mia with a sharp weapon as sensing the presence of thieves he shouted. 

Jilu Mia died on the spot. After the incident, the villagers managed to catch one of the thieves, Sonai Mia, when they were fleeing the scene after the murder.

On information, police rushed to the spot and tried to detain the thief but the villagers locked into a clash with police, leaving a Mofiz Mia died on the spot.
