Govt bans Ansar-Al-Islam

Secretariat Correspondent: The government banned Ansar-Al-Islam, an alleged Bangladesh chapter of al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent, worked before with another militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Recently the Home Ministry's Department of Public Safety wing-2 issued a notification in this regard.
Earlier, the law enforcing agency sent a letter to home ministry seeking a ban on the militant organisation.
The government also banned other militant outfits named Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Harkatul Jihad Bangladesh (Huji), Jagrata Muslim Janata of Bangladesh and Shahadat-e Al-Hikma and Ansarullah Bangla Team for its militant and anti-state activities.
