Tk 24,596.41-cr earned from mobile operators in 16 years

Parliament Correspondent: State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Begum Tarana Halim said the government has earned TK24,596.41 crore in revenue from the country's six mobile phone companies in last 16 years.
The minister made the disclosure while replying to a tabled starred question from treasury bench member Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola-3 in the 14th session of Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.
Tarana Halim said the amount of TK24,596.41 crore has been collected in revenue from the country's six mobile phone companies from January, 2000 to June, 2016.
The State Minister for Post and Telecommunications said the government earned TK11,360.48 crore in revenue from Grameen Phone, TK5,273.73 crore from Robi Axiata, TK5,208.03 crore from Banglalink, TK1,595.69 crore from Airtel, TK460.98 crore from the state own Teletalk and TK697.50 crore from Citycell in last 16 years.
A target of earning TK1,582.89 crore in revenue from mobile phone companies during the 2016-17 fiscal year has been set.
