8,000 police to guard IPU conference

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah said 8,000 police members will deploy to ensure security for the conference of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The DMP commissioner said this while speaking at a meeting at the DMP headquarters on Monday.
The DMP commissioner said, “The 136th conference of Inter-Parliamentary Union will begin on March 29 which will continue till April 5. About 1,400 foreign guests are expected to attend the conference. The hotels for the guests and conference venue will be controlled by CC cameras. Police along with the detectives will be there to ensure security."
When asked about taking such security measures, Asaduzzaman said this decision has been taken considering that it is the largest conference in the history of the country.
He urged the law enforcers to uphold the image of the country and maintain their name and fame in the international arena with their performance.
