Militants use new ploy for existence

Staff Correspondent: Militants are using new strategy to sustain their existence. They are collecting members from Rohingya people and trying to be reorganised by using the option of Rohingya Muslims’ persecution by the Myanmar government, according to the information provided by the detectives.

The detectives said that they are continuing their surveillance on the Rohingya people so that they cannot get involved in the militancy.

Sanowar Hossain, additional deputy commissioner of DMP's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, told risingbd.com on Thursday that the detectives had earlier information about the involvement of Rohingya people in the militant activities. Several have been brought to law after arresting them. We have knowledge that militants are facing huge crisis of members and failing to collect members from the youths. As a result, they are targeting Rohingya people who have been infiltrated to Bangladesh territory after being perpetrated by the Myanmar government. That’s why a close eye has put on the Rohingya people.

Law enforcement agencies are working on it so that Rohingya people cannot get involved in the militancy, he said.

“Detectives have knowledge that several militant members including Idris and Salehin arrested in Kolkata are working for the infiltration of Rohingya people in Bangladesh to the militant group. They are keeping contacts with Rohingya people secretly. They are trying to make them extremist,” Sanowar said.
