Veteran journalist Siddique Ahmed dies

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Elderly journalist and former assistant editor of the daily Azadi Siddique Ahmed died of cancer at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the capital on Wednesday evening (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). He was 71.

He left behind his wife, three sons and a daughter to mourn his death.

His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Chittagong Press Club at 9:00 am tomorrow. He will be buried at his family graveyard after 2nd Namaz-e-Janaza at 12.30pm at Gochi High School under Raozan upazila.

Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Chittagong Press Club (CPC), Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), Chittagong Journalists Housing Co-operatives Society, Chittagong Television Journalists Association and Chittagong Photo Journalists Association expressed profound shock at his death.

They also conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
