Pahela Baishakh celebrated at IU

H K Jibon from IU: The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia on Friday observed Pahela Baishakh-1424 on the campus in Kushtia in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, the university teachers, officers, staff and students of various faculties brought out a Shavajatra from in front of the university administrative building, led by the university vice chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, around 9:30am.
The Shavajatra was ended at the Baishakh fair after parading main roads of the campus while IU pro-vice chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, IUTA president Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, IU hall provost council president Professor M Mizanur Rahman, proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, various faculty deans, chairmen, different teachers, officers, staff and students organizations were joined.
Later, IU vice chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated a three day Baishakh fair here which will end on April 16.
The beautification of the campus has been increasing with different paintings and arts on the occasion of the Pahela Baishakh. The each corner of the campus including Daina Chattor, Peyara Chattor, Ambagan, Monument Chattor, Shaheed Minar Chattor, Mukto Bangla Chattor, Mofiz pond, Waiting Chattor, Bokul Tola, has been fulfilled with the students and visitors coming from both Kushtia and Jhenidah districts.
Thousands of visitors came to the university bringing their children in the morning wearing colorful dresses to enjoy the fair.
IU proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman told risingbd .com that they had deployed additional law-enforcement agencies on the campus to avert any kind of unexpected situation. The fair would be held in a peaceful atmosphere, he hoped.
The university authorities would take punitive steps if any one tried to commit any kind of heinous act, he added.
